This mission, a continuation of the grassroots project initiated by the Montreal Fire Department, is both humanitarian and tourist, and allows volunteers involved with HR Cares to spend ten days on a mission in Haiti in order to provide aid and material and monetary donations to various organizations, while visiting the country and learning about its rich culture.
This is a yearly project which started in 2015 and which consists of teamwork between HR Cares and a non-profit organization (the Centre d’Intercultures de Laval). This project aims to recruit donors among ordinary people, and, with their help, to be able to offer Christmas gifts to children, new arrivals/refugees, who are taken care of by the C.I.L.
HR Cares, in its effort to support the Quebec Sickle Cell Anemia Association and its president/founder Wilson Sanon, is very closely involved in certain Héma-Québec blood donation campaigns. These campaigns aim to reach people, particularly racialized communities, to help overcome the lack of blood cells for people suffering from this disease and who require transfusions. These campaigns are therefore publicized every quarter in order to attract as many donors as possible.
The next generation being the basis of our society of tomorrow, HR Cares wants to support young people who are going through difficult times, while encouraging the most persevering. Thus, interventions, meetings and conferences are organized to reach young people and address subjects and situations that may concern them. Support is also offered to their families when required.
